Because sometimes a traveler needs just a little taste of home and for an interaction to be a familiar—and easy—one, there is McDonald’s near the bottom of the Spanish Steps in Rome. Maybe it’s me, but fast food seems to taste so much better the farther from home I am. It’s sort of fun, too, to look for similarities in the menus, and the differences. In Rome, and, really, anywhere far from home, fast food can be fun.
