A Bit of Old-Fashioned Bliss in Killarney
Every now and then, a place actually looks like it might, like the vision you might have in your head: This is Ireland. This is Killarney. This most definitely is the Dromhall Hotel. It is pretty enough to get married in, with its fireplace and sweeping staircase. It is charming enough to want to get dressed for breakfast and sweep down to the dining room in the Abbey Restaurant. If I weren’t in Ireland to see Ireland, I would take the time to relax in its spa, to while away some hours just lounging about the lobby.
There is no compelling need to drive into town. It is within walking distance. Conveniently, Kayne’s Bar & Bistro is located onsite, so we slip upstairs to the dining room for a candle-lit dinner for two. Even though we do not have reservations and the restaurant is lively with patrons, we are accommodated within a few minutes.
The Dromhall flirts and charms; just be certain you book enough time there before moving on.
