Affordable and Comfortable Accommodation in New York City
A trip to New York City for a little shopping, some sightseeing, theater, and more necessitates a hotel choice that works well for all those activities. One recent choice we make is the Hilton Garden Inn on West 54 Street in Manhattan. Conveniently located between Broadway and Eighth Avenue, the hotel is in a prime midtown location, just a few blocks from Central Park South, and reasonably close to Times Square, Fifth Avenue, and Grand Central Station. In short, staying here is convenient for tourists of all sorts.
Check-in is speedy (and we receive complimentary bottles of water to boot), and our room is both comfortable and clean. The only negative is that elevators tend to be crowded during peak service times, but, of course, that can be a reality at any number of places to stay in big cities during tourist season.
We do not have time for snacks offered in the lobby, but, later, we make time for Irish coffees in the bar of the onsite Empire Steak House. Freshly whipped cream, Jameson’s, and good coffee make for the perfect nightcap before we head upstairs. We would stay here again.
Why pick the Hilton Garden Inn Central Park South?
- Select the Hilton Garden Inn Central Park South for convenience, of course. Its West 54th Street location is near Central Park South, Broadway, Times Square, and Fifth Avenue.
- The Hilton Garden Inn Central Park South also happens to be just across the street from Studio 54. Studio 54! Those of a certain age may remember Studio 54’s heady days as the it disco; it is now home to the Roundabout Theatre Company. Patrons can now attend theater there or head to the cabaret downstairs at 54 Below for dinner and a slightly different sort of show. For either, remember to plan ahead!
- The Hilton Garden Inn Central Park South is just around the corner from the Soup Man made famous by the Seinfeld show (and called something else in a less politically correct era).
