A Great View and a Chocolate Chip Cookie at the DoubleTree by Hilton!

Living within an hour’s drive of Manhattan, I look to hotels in New York City for their convenience and ease. Lacking a pied-à-terre in the city, I want someplace I can check into quickly and easily, that will be comfortable and conveniently located, and, most importantly, clean. I scored that and a chocolate chip cookie at my most recent stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West.

It’s amazing how much my overall attitude changes upon receipt of a chocolate chip cookie!

At the time I arrived, during the busy holiday season, the lobby was buzzing, customers were waiting to check in, and there was a bit of a line at the elevators—so much so that an employee was actually helping herd guests when an elevator finally would land.

Good Service and Convenience at the DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West

It’s New York City during the holidays. It’s crowded. What I like about my visit to the DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West was the fact that DoubleTree seems to acknowledge that. The lobby was decorated festively. Water was available to guests. When I checked in, I was given a choice of rooms and alerted that one of my picks, on a high floor, was near the nightclub in the top tier of the building so I might hear some noise. I was given some ear plugs (which I ended up not needing), some bottled water, and a chocolate cookie. It’s amazing how much my overall attitude changes upon receipt of a chocolate chip cookie!

It turns out that room 3508 offers a view of the World Trade Center (AKA Freedom Tower) and, if you squint a bit, the Statue of Liberty. We could hear the thump-thump-thump of a sound system’s bass, but it was relatively muffled and not too distracting. We did not bother with the ear plugs.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The room was clean and modern, the service was attentive, the price was right, and the hotel itself is conveniently located not far from Times Square. My only complaint is the ratio of guests to elevators, but that’s a challenge that many hotels in the city experience.
