A Venice Hotel with Charm and Convenience
This is how I arrive at Hotel Kette in Venice: Choosing a hotel in Venice for me comes down to charm, convenience, and proximity to crowds. Sure, I would delight in being situated directly over Piazza San Marco, yet I do not want to hazard the hordes of people I know will be there. I love to stay directly on the grand canal, but this time an indulgent favorite of mine is closed temporarily for renovation. Knowing I will be spending some quality time at the Accademia and at Peggy Guggenheim’s place, yet wanting to be in proximity to Saint Mark’s Square, which always draws me, I choose the delightful Hotel Kette located near San Moise church and relatively close to the Teatro La Fenice opera house.
Why Stay at Hotel Kette?
A 16th century building in Venice cannot help but exude charm, and Hotel Kette is no exception. The lobby and ground floor communal spaces, and its cheerful breakfast room, are welcome introductions to a stay that will be anything but generic.
My room is a junior suite opening onto a canal. A small sitting room is perfect for bashful adventurers seeking a little reading and writing time. The larger bedroom, with its window opening onto the canal, is spacious and perfect for a traveler seeking an experience both timeless and contemporary. Venetian style meshes with good wireless at this abode.

A Review of Hotel Kette
What I like about Hotel Kette: cheerful greetings from hotel staff each time I enter or exit the lobby, a wait staff that remembers I prefer cappuccino with my breakfast when I head down to the dining room each morning, the cleanliness and charm of the room, the choice of an elevator or stairs depending on how burdened I happen to be.
Tips for Travelers Staying at Hotel Kette
- Delight in the quiet provided by thick wells and heavy doors.
- Enjoy using a real key to open the door to your Venetian world; there are no card keys for room entrance here.
- Staff can arrange excursions to Murano.
- From the train station, I took the vaporetto to San Marco Vallaresso stop and then walked to Hotel Kette.
