In a town full of hospitality, what makes for a repeat customer at an affordable hotel in New York City? The phrase ‘refreshment center.’ Yes, there is no annoying minibar price list or high markup for the drinks (water, soft drinks and juice) in the mini fridge at Innside by Meliá New York Nomad. These beverages are included in the facility fee charge that goes along with your room. What does that mean? That we are well-hydrated. And happy. Chasing down a bottle of water for less than $5 can be a challenge at a lot of places in Manhattan. Not this one.

What this traveler needs when in town for an overnight is a safe, convenient, and clean place to rest. Innside by Meliá New York Nomad does not disappoint.

Living in the suburbs of New York City, I tend not to stay at places like the Plaza. It is the city I am there for; I just need a place to put my head down at night (and a lavatory all my own!). I will save high-end indulgences for those times when I go farther afield.

The Pros: Innside by Meliá New York Nomad is clean and conveniently located in Chelsea, it has a good bar in the lobby, and the staff at the front desk all have chipper attitudes. Check-in and –out is quick and easy. Our room is comfy with good lighting and well-placed outlets for all of our electronic gadgetry.

The Cons: One minor criticism is that guests should be prepared to be good friends with anyone who happens to be accompanying them. The bathroom experience is a little sheer—the bathroom shower in our room is separated from the main guestroom by frosted glass, which leaves a little less to the imagination than some of us would like. But it does give us plenty of opportunity to re-enact shower scenes from scary movies.
